Each night when we pray with our four boys, we always ask them what they want to say “thank you” to God for. Sometimes we get some funny answers (you can only imagine) and other times we get some beautiful ones that would make your heart melt.
After we pray for what they are thankful for, I always give my thanks. It almost always includes something like this: “Thank you God for supplying all of our needs. Help us to always trust you.” Sometimes I have an easy time praying this and other times this is a true prayer of faith.
These last few years have been roller coaster ride when it come to finances and money. This has been true in our national economy and it has also been true in our community and even in our personal lives.
But one thing I know, God will continue to supply all of our needs. He will continue to be faithful to help us fulfill the mission He has called us to.
This year as have seen that provision. Here are a few examples of the way God has provided this year:
- $9,000: The increase in the amount we’ve taken in on building rentals from last year to this year.
- $1,800: The new monthly rent for our building. Our landlord has graciously (and permanently) lowered our rent down from our original amount of $2,406/mo.
- $0: The amount outstanding to last year’s mission giving commitments. We have been able to come up to date on all of our mission giving commitments to Redemption Church and Lemonade International after falling behind in 2010.
- $10,103:The difference between our income/expenses this year and last year. Last year at this time we were $2,010.53 in the negative with our income and expenses. This year we are $10,103 in the positive. That’s a change of 602%!
This year we made the goal of getting back on solid ground financially so that we could move into 2012 with a solid foundation.
As always, God has been faithful.
There is still plenty of growth available to us in 2012 and as a leadership team, we believe God is calling us to pursue to the following:
- Our children: We have a growing children’s ministry that will soon run out of room unless we do some work to rearrange the classroom set up. We’re committed to keeping our children’s formation a priority in our community.
- Mission Giving: We have some amazing organizations and ministries that we want to re-commit giving to monthly/yearly such as Lemonade International, Redemption Church of Bristol and a few others.
- Pastoral Support: We need to add a part-time co-pastor again to bring much needed pastoral support to Todd that was voided when Gary moved on to Bristol for our church plant.
- Savings: We’d believe it is important to establish a base savings account so we continue to have a solid foundation for the future.
We’d like to invite you to consider how God is calling you to give to the work that God is doing in and through our community.
- If already you invest financially in our mission together, Thank you. Perhaps God is calling you to make a special gift this time of year.
- If you have been meaning to give but for whatever reason have fallen behind, you can catch up by giving now online or by sending your gift to the address below.
- If you have moved on from The Well, yet still hold us as part of your family, we’d be blessed by a special gift.
One of my most basic beliefs about The Well is that we are family. Because of this, I write this e-mail to you from all of us. I hope that you don’t see giving to The Well as an investment in some faceless organization that wants your money, but as an opportunity to share with family.
Our giving together goes to further our mission of helping each other grow up in Christ so that our witness to the world will be a beautiful reflection of His love for us and others.
I believe with all my heart that God will continue to provide all of our needs. May we continue to trust that as we are faithful to Him, He will remain faithful to us.
With hope,

Todd Hiestand
