Our Liturgy
We know “liturgy” is one of those “church words” that may or may not hold any significance to most of us. However, this word has been extremely important to the history of the church.
At The Well, when we use the word we are basically referring to all that takes place during our worship gatherings. We have what we like to call “liturgically relaxed.” We have many elements of a high church worship service but there is a very relaxed feel to how we do it.
Liturgy is more than the order of things we do during our worship service, it is our community’s weekly rhythm of being called, shaped, fed and sent by God.
Our worship gatherings have f0ur main movements to them:
- God Calls Us (together for worship)
- God Shapes Us (by scripture and prayer and community)
- God Nourishes Us (by the Eucharist)
- God Sends Us (together into the world to be his witnesses)
The word “liturgy” literally means, “the work of the people.”
